Frequently Asked Questions
How many photos do I need for Airbnb?
In my opinion less is more - people are often browsing and comparing multiple homes at once when booking a stay, so you want to grab their attention with a handful of amazing photos that show all of the key areas. I believe in quality over quantity - you don’t need 10 shots of the same bedroom!
How much does Airbnb photography cost?
Professional photography is an investment; my goal is to create a full range of marketing material that you can use to land more bookings. For most homes, the cost of a photoshoot is often comparable to a couple of nights’ worth of bookings. In the long run it should be well worth the cost!
How do I prepare for an Airbnb photoshoot?
Make sure your place is nice and tidy and set up as if guests are staying. Have it looking the best that it can be and the photos will look top-notch. I have a full checklist of things to help you prepare for a photoshoot in my info booklet - get in touch using my form below for a copy!
What is the Airbnb photoshoot experience like?
Nice and easy! Once you’ve got in touch, we will tee up a date and time for shooting, taking into account the weather forecast and best time of day. At the shoot I’ll make any small adjustments where needed (fluffing pillows, moving cushions around, etc) and photograph all of the key areas for around 1-2 hours. After the shoot I’ll retouch all of the photos to get them looking perfect and email them through to you as high-resolution JPEGs.
Do you travel for photoshoots?
Absolutely. I’m based in Wanaka and regularly operate in Queenstown, Cromwell, throughout Central Otago and beyond. For shoots more than 30km from Wanaka a mileage fee may apply - feel free to get in touch for a free quote.
about me
My name is Sampford (Sam) Cathie and I’m a Wanaka-based photographer that specialises in photographing and filming homes for architects, designers, homeowners and builders.
I started my business in Auckland in 2012, and since then I’ve worked with a myriad of clients to showcase their projects across the country.
In my downtime, my partner describes me as a “serial hobbyist” - I love to play guitar, hit the slopes, do karate and taste wines, although not all at once. Yet.
